13 de junho de 2010 (Rabanal Del Camino)

Hi there, today i walked aout 20 kms and arrived here at Rabanal del Camino from Astorga around 12.30pm. Left Astorga about 6am before breakfast, had breakfast on the road as usual. Cafe con leche, homemade banana cake and tostada con tomate y aceite - delicious! Here i eat anything i like because i´m burning everything off when i walk - i must have lost a bit of weight because my clothes are loose... Anyway, postre (dessert) and wine and/or beer everyday i cannot lose too much :) Here in rabanal i´m staying at a private albergue called Pillar, very nice, just next to the municipal albergue - 5 euros a night, just one euro more than the public albergue. it has a nice atmosphere... Tomorrow i intend to walk to molinaseca, about 27 km i think, going up and down hills, past the cruz de ferro... so it will be a harder day, a good day to test how my ankles and knees are holding... hopefully i´ll be ok... i think i´ll try and make a reservation at the private albergue there just in case i arrive too late... yesterday the albergue san javier got full before my brazilian camino friends arrived and they had to go to the nuns accommodation (15 euros per night)... today was dry, no rain for a change, after 4 days raining no stop... they say its going to rain again on tuesday though :( today australia plays in the world cup at 20.30 local time, will try and see the game if there´s a tv here, not sure, havent´seen any... ??
.....
a note on torches and a medical kit for caminos: ideally the torch should be flexible or able to direct the light where you want hands free, for example if you´re fixing your blisters you need both hands and the torch should ideally have some support to keep it standing... also ideally you need a torch that you can control the strenght of the light, very strong for when you leave early to walk before dawn so you can see the signs, and dim enough for when you light it at night time when others are sleepin.. more late, credit is finished... ciao, v
